I found these abridged versions of classic children's literature at Hobby Lobby of all places. And since they were about two bucks each and hardcover and had pictures I decided to get a couple. One was The Wizard of Oz and we read until Dorothy gets to the scarecrow. The scarecrow wants to go with Dorothy because he doesn't have a brain.
"Mom, how does he know?"
"What?"
"How does he know how to talk?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, how can he talk if he doesn't have a brain?"
"Well, I guess we'll have to see?"
"He probably only has half a brain."
